Finding Us Blog Tour

Finding Us Blog Tour Banner

Synopsis
Jag Jensen and Ellen Love had been best friends their whole lives until he turned thirteen and started noticing girls his own age, but that didn’t mean he stopped watching out for eleven-year-old Ellen. By his senior year in high school, baseball had taken the front seat in his life, with a scholarship to college and a pro career looming on the horizon, when sophomore Ellen caught his attention and they struck up their friendship again. Although Ellen wanted more, Jag didn’t want to drag her into what he knew would be a crazy life, but love has a way of deciding one’s future, and eventually they became a couple. Ellen followed him to California as he began his pro career, but his wild and hectic lifestyle screwed everything up.
Now Jag is lost, realizing he’s never been without his best friend in his life. Learning to live without Ellen doesn’t settle well with him, so while trying to remain at the top of his career, he also wants to get his girl back, which proves to be more difficult than he thought it’d be. Will Ellen give him another chance or does that sort of thing only happen in the sappy romance novels she always used to read? Jag hopes she’s willing to try again as he puts his heart on the line for the woman he knows will always be his forever and a day.

Review
4 star review. This is book 2 in the True Love series and told from Jag's point of view. Book one had me on a crazy roller coaster and hating Jag. This book helps to understand how Jag truly feels about El and their relationship and how much he truly loves her. Jag and El have had one crazy ride for a relationship and if you think things change in this book your wrong.  El is strong and independent I love her and like any women she just wants happiness. Finding Us had me on another emotional roller coaster ride and had me screaming at my kindle. Finding Us has it all romance, drama and even a serious cliffhanger. I seriously need book three in my hands.

Title: Forever Doomed

Author: MaryAnn Kempher

Genre: Mystery

It's not wise to wander the cruise ship Forever alone at night. You might not live to see daylight.

Detective Jack Harney agrees to do an old Army buddy a favor. Curt Noble had some personal business to attend to, he didn’t say what. What he did say was he needed someone to temporarily take over his duties as head of security on the struggling cruise ship Forever. Jack hesitates, but he owes Curt his life so agrees. He’s told the worst mischief he can expect to encounter will be the occasional shoplifter, or drunk. Instead, one week into the cruise, a beautiful red head and a member of the crew are ruthlessly murdered. Are the two murders connected? It’s up to Jack to find out. He must find the killer before the ship returns to Tampa’s port, or worse, before another dead body is found. This won't be easy. The ship is old, it's security systems outdated, and clues are few, or so it seems at first

It’s not just a sense of obligation that motivates Jack to agree to Curt's request; Jack moved thousands of miles, started over, and still can't get Amy O'Brian out of his heart or mind. When she shows up on the ship, as part of a large wedding party, Jack must fight to stay focused. To make matters worse, Amy isn't his only distraction; a sexy and mysterious woman has made it her mission to seduce Jack.

As the body count rises, and time slips away, Jack has to ask himself, “Did someone commit the perfect crime?”

Excerpt:

The man had to pull hard on the back entrance/exit to the kitchen that led directly outside. Though he worked out and was strong, the door tended to stick. That night was no different. With one good yank, it opened. He entered cautiously, looking around to ensure the room was empty. Technically, he wasn’t supposed to be in the cafeteria at that late hour, but with the costume ball going on, and the room finally empty, he had to take a chance.

Time was running out; the ship had been at sea a week and there had been only a few opportunities to be alone in the kitchen. There was always someone there, even after hours, but that night everyone was gone, working the party. Even the pastry chef, who could usually be found in the kitchen at all hours of the night preparing cakes and pies, especially with the baked goods competition about to begin, was absent. The lights flickered. Damn thunderstorm. He opened a refrigeration unit, took out things for a sandwich, and walked over to the pantry door with plans to pull out a container that was inside. He was startled to see Matt Smith enter the kitchen.

“What are you doing in here?” asked Matt.

The man felt like a prize fool for what happened next, because it didn’t have to happen. If he hadn’t been surprised by Matt’s entrance, he would have thought of a perfectly plausible excuse. But he panicked and without thinking, grabbed the rolling pin off the counter and swung it at Matt’s head. It happened so fast, he didn’t even realize he’d done it until he heard the gasp come from the direction of the door that led to the cafeteria. Someone was at the kitchen door’s window.

He ran to the door in time to see a woman rushing from the cafeteria. He went back to Matt and felt for a pulse. Damn damn damn! He’d have to take care of this on his own and he needed to be quick. He went to the outside door, looked out, and when he saw that nobody was there, easily picked up Matt’s body, took it outside, and tossed it overboard.
He leaned against the closed kitchen door, breathing heavy, his heart beating fast. After a minute, he straightened up, smoothed his shirt, and went back into the kitchen. He walked over to the swinging door and peered out the window. The seating area was empty, the woman long gone.

Review:
Well, I’m usually not a huge fan of murder mystery books, but I’ve gotta admit… I really enjoyed this one.  I felt like it was very clever of author MaryAnn Kempher to not only introduce the murder events fairly quickly into the story, but she also allowed the details to unfold through the perspective of several different characters, which had me engaged in the mystery right from the start.
The story was very fast paced and had wonderful flow… the characters, although completely different in backgrounds and personality blended well together and had great depth and development.  I loved the fact that the story wasn’t just a crime mystery, but also included elements of romance and several witty moments of comedy.  I have to say that my favorite character… wasn’t one of the main characters, but one of the minor side individuals by the name of Chef Philippe, the pastry chef on the cruise ship… I swear, with the description of the crazy “Doc Brown” from the “Back to the Future” movies and constantly yelling out “Saboteurs!” every time his character was included in a particular dialogue, just had me giggling my ass off!  In addition to crazy Chef Philippe, we also have “Bridezilla”, jump-outta-the cake stripper gram, a couple of pastry loving, “Golden Girl” chef groupies, the equivalent of “Bill & Ted” on the security team having an excellent adventure and catty ex-girlfriends all rounded out the cast of side characters…  Now that’s entertainment!
Even though this is actually a sequel to another book written by MaryAnn Kempher, it can certainly be read as a stand-alone.  I hadn’t read the first book and had no trouble following along with this one.  All in all, this was an enjoyable and very entertaining read that brought so many different facets of genres but all woven together in an wonderful story.  Great job Miss Kempher!

I hovered over her sweet body, the soft flesh beneath my fingers like fucking silk. Her hands laced in the rungs of the headboard above her head, propping her breasts high and full for me. Her head was thrown back in ecstasy, full lips formed in a a perfect O as moans escaped her throat.

She was fucking stunning. I moved in and out of her, slowing my pace, hitting her as deep as I could, rounding my hips with each slow thrust and drag. She was everything, had been my everything for a few months, the only one that had ever gotten me.

All of me.

The me that no one else had ever seen.

Fuck of it was, she was my brother’s fiancée.

I’d fucking taken her right from under him.

I hadn’t meant to, I don’t think she’d meant to either, it’d just happened one night, and there’d been no going back.

And now here we were, months later, I was still plowing into her—taking her, owning her, making her mine—every fucking night in my bed, hearing her call my name, her eyes hazy with lust and love when I finished.

Except tonight was different.

Tonight was the last time.

Tonight I was ending it.

My heart clutched in my chest as the words floated through my head. My eyes burned with the pain of it.

I didn’t want to let her go, but more than anything, I was sick of running. And seeing my brother again had finally opened my eyes.

This was it.

4 Knockout Stars
This book is one that will grab your attention and hold it from page one.  Gabriel Vega didn't have the best start in life.  To be honest, he had it rough.  Foster care, in and out of trouble with the law, all sorts of bad things until he finally found his outlet in boxing and the man who taught him to control it in better ways.  Enter Salem... the hot sexy woman who is definitely off limits, but that doesn't stop Gabriel from wanting her anyway.  I loved Salem, even though she started out cold and seemed like a real bitch, once you find out more about her and her past, you can definitely understand why she is the way she is.  She is full of attitude and spirit.  She is just as attracted to Gabriel as he is to her, but she keeps pushing him away.  On the Ropes has a great story line and is truly a real life romance.  I enjoyed that they developed a real friendship first and then moved on to more.  Their banter back and forth was also very entertaining throughout the book and kept me wanting to know what they were going to do next.  Thoroughly enjoyed it and can't wait for more from Christa Cervone!

Excerpt
My thoughts drift to creating a fantasy of Salem and me. We’re in the locker room at Frankie’s gym and I’m all hot and sweaty from training. I have her pinned up against the wall and she’s completely defenseless against me, but she’s into it. Her skirt is up around her waist and the little piece of fabric she calls underwear is interfering with what I want. I grind my body up against hers and my dick is swelling as I rub up on her thigh. My hands roam freely over her body, finally landing on her tight ass. Our tongues are dueling and I’m drunk on her taste. The scent of the perfume or body spray she’s wearing is tormenting me until I’m at my breaking point. “God, Salem, you smell so fucking good; it makes me wanna fuck you until you can’t remember your own name,” I growl. Her hands tighten in my hair and a stronger wave of her scent drifts into my nose as I inhale. My chest is heaving at my thoughts and my breathing is labored. Sliding my hand into my boxers, I adjust myself to get more comfortable and my thoughts are almost immediately back with Salem. Her perfectly manicured nails are clawing at my back now as I dig my fingers into her legs. I kiss her neck roughly as she pants in my ear, “Make me come, Saint.” Then she bites my earlobe and I lose control. I’m so anxious to have her that I rip off the expensive panties she’s wearing and slam my cock into her like her pussy is my saving grace. I smile when she screams in pleasure as she comes apart in my arms.
Unconsciously, my hand slides back down into my boxers until it meets my aching erection. This time I begin stroking myself; I just can’t help it. Salem…there’s just something about her…I’m not sure if it’s her beauty or the fact that I’ll have to work to get her. But, whatever it is, she will be mine.
