Tour: Game Changer by Collette West

Synopsis

Young, rich, and unaware of how seriously hot he is, Brooks Davison is tearing it up as the latest shortstop for the New York Kings, despite his tendency to blush whenever girls scream his name.

When a health scare forces his best friend, Kyle Roberts, off the team, no one can stomach the thought of replacing him, especially so close to the playoffs.

Until Kyle's sister, Sasha, steps in, convincing management to let her take his place. The idea of signing the first female player in Major League history proves too tempting for the Kings to resist.

Nevertheless, Brooks doesn't want any part of it. Sasha is Kyle's little sister, not some sideshow.

Yet when Kyle takes a turn for the worse, Brooks promises to do everything in his power to help Sasha win a championship for him. Because there's no way he's letting either of them down. Not now, not ever.

REVIEW

Oh boy!! My all-time favourite genre of book is a sports romance and this book certainly gives this perfectly. Author Collette West is the best at baseball books. She gives us accurate sporting information alongside a real storyline with strong and emotional characters. I LOVED Sasha's strength and ingenuity in stepping up to try and save her brothers place on the King's team. Does she do it??? That's for me to know and you to find out! I really loved the interaction of the whole team and how it wouldn't always be friendship and flowers. Brooks, well what can I say about him except Holy Hotness he is My new book boyfriend. I LOVE him! Well done Collette West on another brilliant book in this baseball series!! I award this 5 stars ~~ Rosie

EXCERPT

Sasha, with your good looks and your last name, you’d be a marketer's dream—the new face of the game, no doubt about it."

OMG, Brooks thinks I’m hot. That makes me feel good even if he’s not buying a word of what I’m saying. He knows better. Things like this just don't happen. Not many people get a second chance at their dream, especially on such a grand scale. I’m letting my imagination run wild, but it’s the only plan I have.

"And what about me? Did you ever stop and think that I might not be able to handle being around you again?" His eyes burn into mine like he’s daring me to deny the attraction that’s simmering between us.

Forget college. Forget staying away from him. If I could have Brooks all to myself, I'd be willing to do almost anything—even take my brother's job.

"Fortune cookies for you," the waiter declares, striding over and sliding them on top of the check folder.

"Open yours," Brooks urges like our future depends on it.

I humor him, removing the plastic wrapper and cracking it open.

"‘Attempt much, excuse little,’" I read out loud from the little scrap of paper.

"…in bed," Brooks says, adding that overused, cliché line, smiling at me ruefully. But from him, it’s not groan inducing. Instead, it’s more of a turn-on.

“Um…what does yours say?” I ask, blushing to the roots of my hair.

“’You’ve been chosen for the seventy-fifth annual Hunger Games,’” he drawls, making me laugh, just like he always does.

I know Brooks doesn’t agree with me. He thinks this is a bad idea. I’ll just have to convince him that it’s not. He’s trying to be a good friend and watch out for me. But if I can actually pull this off, he’ll come around eventually. I know he will.

Because I’m hoping that, by the end of the season, we’ll be a lot more than just friends.

About Collette West

Collette West grew up as somewhat of a jock-nerd hybrid. Entering the world three weeks premature, her dad nearly missed her birth because he had seats behind the dugout for a sold-out, highly-anticipated match-up between two of baseball's biggest rivals. Not to be outdone, her book-loving mom taught her how to read by the time she was three. A love of the game coupled with an appreciation for the written word were instilled in Collette's impressionable brain from a young age. No wonder her characters believe in the philosophy: sports + romance = a little slice of heaven.
Splitting her time between the Pocono Mountains and Manhattan, Collette indulges her inner fangirl by going to as many games as she can from hockey to baseball and downloading every sports romance novel in existence onto her iPad. When she's not clicking away on her laptop, she enjoys walking her dog in Central Park, satisfying her caffeine craving at the Starbucks on Broadway and keeping an eye out for Mr. Right. But above all, she loves dishing with her readers. Email her at collette_west@yahoo.com.
She is the author of NIGHT GAMES and GAME CHANGER.

Excerpt

“Well, I’m here now. What do you want to do?” I raise one eyebrow, hoping he’s thinking the same thing I am.

“I thought we’d have a glass of wine on the back patio and talk. Then we can have dinner and see where the night goes from there. How does that sound?”

I try to hide my disappointment at his plan. I was hoping to have him as an appetizer and go from there. I can’t believe my sex drive is revved up after only being with this man twice.

“Sure, sounds like a plan to me. What kind of wine do you have?” I’m not a wine expert, but I know what I like.

“I’ve got a Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay or a Pinot. Is there one you prefer?”

“I’ll start with the Chardonnay, please.” It’s my favorite, but I’m not going to tell him just yet.

Drew pours the wine, takes my hand, and leads me out to the patio where he first proposed this idea of marriage. I hadn’t taken the opportunity to admire the view the last time I was here. If this is going to be my home, I think I should take a look around. There’s the patio, which is covered over about six feet by a deck above. The large grill and a patio table are on one side. Beyond the patio is a beautiful in-ground pool with an infinity edge. I love swimming pools. On both sides of the pool are large grassy areas that seem to go on forever.

I could get used to this. I shake my head trying to clear my head. I shouldn’t be thinking like this when our relationship is fake.

Drew pulls a chair out from the table for me before sitting down. Such a gentleman. I smile at that thought, and when I look up he’s staring.

“What?” I can’t help but grin.

“Nothing, just that you have a beautiful smile.”

Okay, my panties are wet again. How is it he keeps doing this to me?

“Um, thanks?”

Drew smiles again and I can feel my cheeks heat up. I’ve got to stop blushing in front of him.

“So, Lily, is there anything in particular you’d like to do on your days off?”

Oh, there are plenty of things I want to do, but I’m not sure I can say them out loud right now.

“Well, I haven’t really thought about it. I have until Monday, so I’m sure we’ll think of something.”

“Monday? I thought you had a wedding this weekend.”

“Nope. The bride postponed due to a family emergency. I don’t have anything going on until Monday, so . . .”

“Wow, that’s great. I’m sure we’ll find a way to fill the time.”

That statement holds promise. I smile at Drew and try to convey my dirty thoughts with my eyes.

Excerpt

When I reach my room, I stop short at one of the most beautiful sights I’ve ever seen.

Lily is curled up on my bed, her hair splayed out on the pillow, and she’s sleeping. She looks so peaceful and content; my dick twitches at the thought of burying myself inside her. My heart rate speeds up and I realize I really like this view. I want to have it view every day. Fuck. There go my plans to keep things simple. I’m falling in love with Lily. I didn’t see that coming, but I kind of like the idea. As I change my clothes, I wonder how this woman got under my skin so quickly.

I know I should let her sleep, but I have to touch her to figure out if what I’m feeling is real, if I want to put my heart on the line again and risk it being crushed. I climb carefully on the bed and she rolls toward me, but doesn’t open her eyes. I brush a few strands of hair away from her face and she smiles. That smile pushes me over the edge. I know I want this woman in my life, and I’m going to do what I can to keep her. It’s a foreign feeling, one I’ve fought for years, but it feels right. I pull her into my arms. She makes a small moaning sound and curls into me. She’s soft where I’m hard and we fit together like we were made for each other. I relax and get lost in the rhythm of her breathing. Soon, I’m dozing, too.
