Review:
Ok…so, I had no idea what to expect when I started reading “Moments of Reckoning”, and let me just say, WOW!  Savannah Stewart has really done a phenomenal job with this book, and consider this…it’s Savannah’s first published novel.  Now, I’m sure you’re just waiting on bated breath, wondering, is this just another love story, a crime story or possibly a suspenseful drama?  Well, let me tell you, “Moments of Reckoning” is ALL of these things…and so much more.
Hannah Davis is a vivacious college student in her junior year at the University of California, but if you look deeper, you see that she is so much more as well.  So, who is Hannah?  For her Father, renowned Psychologist, Elliot Davis, unable to realize dreams of “grooming” a son to follow in his career path, Hannah is the overachiever with a sense of loyalty that forced her to major in phycology, instead of pursuing her passion of music.  Hannah is also confidante to Abby, her friend and roommate, Abby' long-distance relationship with boyfriend Alex is falling apart and is now troubled to discover new feelings awakening for bad boy Xavier.  Hannah is also secretly in love with her best friend since the eighth grade, Jason Malone, but terrified that Jason doesn’t feel the same for her, Hannah just consoles herself with Jason’s friendship. And yet, if you dig just a little deeper, you will find something truly remarkable about Hannah…Hannah has a pure spirit, lit within from kindness, empathy and a true loyalty that is lacking in most individuals.
With the constant pressures of Hannah trying to be all things to everyone, she and Abby accept an offer from Jason to go out for a Friday night of drinks, dancing and just enjoyment of good friends.  On this night, events, some years in the making, will unfold, some joyfully, others with utter devastation.  Abby will come to a decision on the man that will share her future.  Jason and Hannah will discover their shared love and passion; and then only moments later, Hannah is cruelly and mysteriously pulled away from Jason and her family.
I am just so impressed with the talent that is so apparent in Savannah Stewart’s writing.  I swear I read this book in a little over a day, but the layers and depths of struggle the characters confront, the turmoil, it is difficult not to feel it right along with them and, for me, it truly felt as if I had gone through a week’s worth of emotions by the time I had read the last page.
“Moments of Reckoning” addressed aspects of mental illness in such a way that, at least in this instance, reminded me of an injured, chaotic soul faltering in darkness, but somehow, stumbled into this light of kindness, empathy and an unrelenting loyalty, all radiating from the light of this pure soul…. And then suddenly was taken away and just wanted to find the safety of the light again…
Well done Savannah Stewart, please continue writing. ~Kathy

Excerpt:
Our faces were so close at this point that our noses slightly brushing against one another when either of us moved. Matthew slowly raised his hand and brushed the back of it across my cheek as we stared into each other’s eyes. Closing my eyes I let out a long, slow sigh. This was my Matthew…the loving boy I used to know. If only time could be rewound and things could take place differently. I was lost in thought when I felt Matthew’s damp lips press against mine. Shock raced through my mind as I let out a gasp. My eyes flew open in response as I found myself slightly pushing back from him. Then I watched Matthew shut down. Hurt followed by anger flashed across his face faster than I could count to three. He was back on his feet shaking his head violently back and forth.
“No…No … NO!!!! I KNEW IT!!!” he yelled louder and louder.
“Matthew, wait…” I reached for him as I tried to stand but the coldness in his eyes froze me where I sat.
