Release Day Blitz: WORTH THE RISK by Claudia Connor

'

Title: Worth the Risk
Series: The McKinney Brothers #2
Author: Claudia Connor
Publisher: Loveswept
 Release Date: February 3, 2015

Synopsis

New
York Times
 bestselling
author Claudia Connor follows up her heartfelt debut, Worth the Fall, with
a novel about Matt’s brother, Stephen—and when a McKinney brother falls in
love, powerful emotion and overwhelming desire are never far behind.

Two hearts locked away . . . Hannah Walker spends her days coaching
children through injury and trauma, one therapeutic horseback ride at a time.
She knows all too well how violence can change a child and leave scars that
never heal. It’s easy for her to relate to the kids; what isn’t easy is the
thought of facing her own harrowing past.

Millionaire playboy Stephen McKinney could use a little coaching himself. Five
years ago he encountered his most horrible nightmare—and the nightmare won. No
matter what he achieves, nothing can make up for that awful night . . . or so
he believes.

Both desperate for a second chance . . . Stephen is used to getting what
he wants. And he wants Hannah. So when she turns him down, he’s intrigued. What
he doesn’t know is that her secrets will lead him to a place he never wanted to
go again . . . to a side of himself he’s tried to forget . . . a side that
would scare Hannah away from ever loving him. Now his only chance to win her
trust is to bare his soul, risking everything he tried so hard to protect.

REVIEW

These brothers are fabulous. They are super hot, super intelligent and super interesting. This book is about Stephen. A rich CEO and a heartbroken man focused only on his job. But, you can't help but fall in love with him. Especially in the butterfly house - when you read it you will understand! When he meets Hannah his life improves! She is also broken but he repairs her and together they repair each other! Perfect you may think, but there are problems along the way. Interfering and protective family being the smallest of the problems. But Claudia Connor succeeds in keeping us guessing until the very end! Her writing style is great and I now just want more of the McKinney brothers. I award this book 5 stars ~ Rosie

Release Day Blitz: A TASTE OF COUNTRY by Vicki Green

REVIEW

I'm now in floods of tears because I didn't want to finish reading so quickly and because of the beautiful ending.
I really didn't believe I could enjoy a book as much as Country Heaven but although Memphis still steals the title of book boyfriend. A Taste Of Country certainly moves into top spot for the storyline! I loved the twists along the way, I certainly wasn't expecting any of these twists to happen. I could never have even imagined these twists. However because you are the talented one you knew the story would only be better because of them!! The addition of Caprice was the perfect. She allowed the story to  develop even more. I'm so pleased  to have Sadie and Memphis in the story and to see how their lives are moving on since their book.Colby well I do love him, just not as much as Memphis. He is so kind and loyal,  I loved him when he brought in Ditto for Shiloh!! I really didn't expect all the suspense but it really was a perfect combination of suspense and romance!
I don't know where you get your ideas from but I wish I could live in your head just for 1 day!
Thank you so much for allowing me to read this early. It really made my day and I am honoured you thought of me! Well done on another AMAZING book you are one extremely talented writer who I now have the pleasure of calling a friend!!Please let me know if I can support you in any way!!

Sometimes beauty is skin deep,
Other times it is in the things we see inside,
Then there are times it is both

Colby Carter comes from a traditional country life, one that dates back for generations. He put that behind him by attending an out of state college. He came back and his parents gifted to him their large farm and estate. Overwhelmed by the responsibility and knowing he can’t possibly keep up with the farm and the enormous house alone, he places an online ad to hire help. He has no time for women. He got his fill in college, acting the playboy that is now in his past. However, that doesn’t stop the women in town from trying to get his attention, but he knows they are only after two things: his hot and sexy body, and his wealth.

Shiloh Willson responds to an online ad to work for a man, cleaning and caring for his house. She finds it’s a perfect escape from the mess her life has become and a faraway place she hopes no one will find her. She can’t believe her eyes when she arrives at the large house, but what really surprises her is the hot and sexy man that hired her. Has she taken on too much? Will this be the perfect place to hide or will she have to run again?

*This book is intended for 18+ readers.

Lorraine Britt

AUTHOR BIO
Lorraine Britt is a fourth generation Native Texan who is also immensely proud of her Louisiana heritage and solid Southern roots. As an enthusiastic lover of the written word, inspiration struck Lorraine and she began to bubble over with her own ideas. Grasping hold of her lifelong dreams, it wasn’t long before she was putting pen to paper and letting her fingers fly over a keyboard to bring her own characters to life. When she isn’t busy scribbling notes for her next idea you might find her whipping up delicious creations in the kitchen or putting miles on her car on road trip adventures. Lorraine is equally passionate about music, movies and sports. You’ll no doubt find these familiar themes woven throughout her books. Lorraine and her family currently make their home in northeast Texas.

QUESTIONS
Have any characters surprised you? Done different things you didn't see coming or gone in a different direction than you were planning?
Yes! There have been times when the story took a completely different direction than I originally intended.

You do such an amazing job bringing your characters to life. How do you bring such depth to them?
Thank you for saying that! I try to really envision them, envision their lives, their feelings, get inside the situation. I want my characters to be real and relatable.

What is your writing necessity?
Inspiration. I have to feel what I'm writing. I have to care about the characters and the story or it won't come to me.

In the  Soldier Series you deal with such real situations. How much research do you need to do before begining your writing?
Quite a bit actually. I've spent a lot of time talking to those in the military or to veterans of the military. I want to make sure what I am portraying is accurate and respectful.

Your book covers are so perfect and in tune with the story inside. How do you match the cover with the story and who helps you create such wonderful works of art?
To me, I have to find the perfect model and be able to put a bit of them into the character when I write. Then I will develop the story concept and share it with my amazing photographer, Jennifer Tanner. Jennifer and I will then discuss ideas and locations for the photo shoot. Once  we have the perfect shot, everything goes to my genius cover artist, Ben Moss. We give him the photos and our concept and vision and he brings it to life for us.

On average, how long from initial idea to completed book is it?
It varies from book to book. The fastest from idea to release? Four months. The longest? Thirteen months.

Were you apprehensive writing about such emotional topics? I think you deal with them fantastically by the way!
Not at all. I don't shy away from the emotional or the difficult or touchy topics. To me it is important to keep it real and raw.

Do you ever use the southern hillbilly stereotype in your books, or do you despise the term?
I try not to use stereotypes at all. I like to think my characters are completely unique and all their own. Having said that. I am from Texas and we have more rednecks where I am than hillbillies. So if anything you might see a little bit of that ... or at least the part that is accurate.

In the part of the State you live in, is racism still in full effect or has it subsided?
Honestly, in the north east part of Texas it really varies from community to community. I was blessed to grow up in a town where it wasn't a big issue, at least not to me and my friends. It was a small town and most of us knew each other from kindergarten on. We just didn't see each other by race, if that makes sense. Friends were just friends. The town I live in today is much the same. I know places where it is still more of an issue, but I hope those areas are making progress too.

Can you give us, at For The Love Of Books a sneak peek into your current WIP?
Sure! Up next I am working on both a sequel to my second book Love Knows No Bounds, which is my Young Adult Series. I am also begining the book that will feature Greg Clausen on the cover. I'm super excited about this one.

QUESTIONS

Do you ever feel, in your work that you are not taken so seriously because you are a female?
No, there are other issues but that is not one of them.
How do you make sure you capture the emotion and feeling you are going for in a shoot?

If I'm working for the author I try to tell the story through an image. If I'm working with a model I just try to capture the look they are going for.
Have you always wanted to be a photographer?
No
What is the craziest location you've shot at?
The barrel house at Jack Daniels.
What is the craziest thing you've asked a model to do?
Get in the freezing cold lake in January or February in Alabama
What 5 words best describe your photography style?
Organic, respectful, moving, inspiring, unique
How did you get so lucky to work with such amazing people, authors and models alike?
I'm just very blessed
Obviously you are crazy talented, but is photography something you've always wanted to do or just something you were good at that turned into an amazing job?
It was a hobby that turned into a great job.
When asking models to do crazy things do you ever get a fit of the giggles?
No. I'm always serious and focused (and they say bossy!) on a shoot.
Do you have a favourite picture? Maybe of Christopher?
Yes, our shoot this past week definitely resulted in my favourites of Chris. Of all time... the shoot on a tug boat with Jeremy Mooney

MODEL BIO
Christopher is an USMC Vet / Double Amputee. He has now turned to modelling as a means of inspiring others.

Above all everyone would like to thank you for your service.

QUESTIONS

Thinking of the cover picture for Always Faithful Always Yours, what were you thinking about when the photo was taken?
Don't blink!!

What is the best piece of advice you've been given?
Don't take life  too seriously.

What is the craziest thing you've been asked to do as a model?
To shoot naked in the middle of a street!

You totally nailed Landry on the cover. What things did you do to help you get into character?
The character is loosely based on me, so I was just myself.

How did you break into the modelling world?
I was looking for a way to inspire people and photography was a great way to do that.

Do you read the books you are on the cover of?
Of course.

Has your outlook on the world changed since becoming a double amputee? Specifically, do you notice people looking at you differently or treating you differently? If so, positive, negative or both?
People definitely treat me and look at me differently, but I like to think that it's because they see me as a source of inspiration.

How do you cope with the attention, especially at the author/reader events?
Be grateful that so many people are proud to meet me.

Do you enjoy meeting your fans?
Of course.

What is your favourite hobby (I'm thinking it is your motorbike?)
That ... and the gym.

I see from some of your photos that you have a dog/ Is it a service dog and if so what does she help you with?
Yes, ma'am ... she is, but she is also my best friend. She helps  grab things for me as well as she is a great therapist.

REVIEW FOR:
ALWAYS FAITHFUL ALWAYS YOURS
From the cover to the last word, this book is great. Never before has a cover so accurately portray the storyline itself. This book deals with a serious subject matter in a compassionate, realistic yet enjoyable (if that's the correct word) manner.  Can Life long friends ever become lovers? Well with what Landry and Madeleine have to overcome you would guess that the odds are stacked against them but maybe not? I love how this book was written in a duel pov this really makes the book have so much more depth. I really enjoyed this book from an author who was new to me. Thank you for not shying away from difficult subject matter. I award this book 4 stars ~ Rosie

Excerpt
“Hey,” Alec murmured in my ear. “Is everything okay?”
No, not at all.
“Yeah... I'm just stressed with the move,” I replied, playing it off like it was nothing.
Alec placed his hands on my arms and gently rubbed up and down. “Are you sure that's all?”
I nodded my head.
“Keela,” Alec began. “Talk to me, what's wrong?”
Everything.
“Nothin', I'm fine,” I assured him.
His silence spoke volumes, so I decided to give him a little piece of what I was thinking.
“I've just never moved into a house with another person before, especially not another person who is my fiancĂ©. It's sinkin' in that we're for real. I was convinced for a long time that you wantin' me was some kind of fluke. I was expectin' you to realise that you could have anyone, so why settle for me? Then you'd up and walk out.”
Alec turned me to face him and leaned his head down so he could press his forehead against mine. “I don't know what else I can do to make you realise you're it for me. I don't see anyone but you. You're my life, Keela. I wish you knew just how much I love you and how lucky I am that you picked me. You don't know how beautiful you are, and I hope you never realise it because if you do, you'll realise you can do better than my sorry ass, then you'll up and leave me.”
Yeah, right.
“Stop it,” I mumbled and tried to pull back.
“No,” Alec stated firmly and held me still. “You are beautiful. You are perfect to me. You are my life. You are never going to convince me that I am worthy of you. Kitten, I love you so much it hurts. Please realise that.”
Oh, Christ.
I was about to cry. Again.
I quickly lifted my hands to my face and covered it completely.
“I hate you!” I said then burst into tears.
I hated everything.
I had this unbelievably beautiful person both inside and out, and he wanted me by his side for life, yet here I was doubting whether or not we were moving too fast. I wanted to be with Alec for the rest of my life, I swear I did... so why the hell did everything we were doing feel like it was too fast?
Alec took my emotional state as a good sign and put his arms around me and cuddled me to him. He thought I was overwhelmed by his profession of love, and I was, but what he didn't realise was that I was close to breaking down and revealing what was really wrong with me.
“Cry baby,” he murmured to me.
I lightly chuckled and pulled back. “I'm fine, it's just the stress of movin' that has me so teary.”
Alec nodded his head and kissed my forehead. “Let's go get a start on boxing and speed this day up. What do you say?”
I forced a smile. “I say lead the way.”

Review

Every book in this series just gets better and better the more we get to know the characters. Kerala follows on from Alec and really for most enjoyment you should read them in order. Keela and Alec have had a whirlwind romance built on a pretend relationship, however the chemistry and passion between them is electric. They argue over the small stuff but this is what makes the book hilariously funny. Author L.A Casey writes humour better than anyone I've read.I love the Irish dialect features, this makes the characters much more realistic and is part of what makes these books stand out from the crowd! I adore all the Slater Brothers and their girls. The camaraderie between them all is simply beautiful. Who wouldn't want brothers as hot and protective as this gang. This book is definitely up their on my favourites list and I easily award it 5* ~ Rosie

Blog Tour: MAYHEM by Jamie Shaw

mayhem

Synopsis:
When college freshman Rowan Michaels meets gorgeous, up-and-coming rock star Adam Everest, she knows a player like him is the last thing she needs after her ex-boyfriend shattered her heart. But she can't stop thinking about the kiss they shared on his tour bus.

On the first day of school, Rowan is stunned when Adam saunters into her French class. He's soon failing miserably, and, on a whim, she offers to tutor him. But Adam doesn't recognize her as a makeup-free, glasses-clad college student—a far cry from the beautiful, mysterious "Peach" he met at his concert.

During a wild weekend on tour with the band, Rowan can't help falling for the sweet guy buried beneath Adam's rocker persona. Yet she knows she could never compete with the girls constantly throwing themselves at his feet. She'd just end up hurt … again.

Peach is all Adam thinks about, though, and when Rowan realizes this, she has a decision to make: stay just friends to protect her fragile heart … or reveal the truth about the night they met and admit she's fallen completely, hopelessly in love with him.

Praise for Mayhem:
This book is exactly why every girl has a rock star fantasy. Love, lust and good times on the road make for a fun and sexy romance that will make you want to drop everything and run away on tour with the band.

   — Jay Crownover, New York Times bestselling author

There’s no better feeling than staying up late to finish a great book. Mayhem was totally worth losing sleep over.
   — Tiffany King, USA Today bestselling author

Excerpt:
"When the door opens behind me, I sit up straight and hurriedly sniff in my tears as I wipe my shaking fingers across my slippery cheeks. I hear the flick of a lighter, and then someone sits down next to me on the stairs, puffing a cigarette. When I look over at him, I nearly choke.

He gazes back at me, starting at my hot-pink heels and then raking his way up, and then he chuckles. “Are they letting people in yet?”

Adam. He’s ditched the shades and cap, and now his dark brown hair is framing his gorgeous face, stretching almost to his chin. I look away quickly, hoping he can’t tell I’ve been crying.

“Sorry about that,” I say. And I hear the hoarse sadness in my voice, but I couldn’t keep it out.

When he reaches over and brushes my tangled hair away from my eyes, I tense.

“Is everything okay?” he asks, and I half laugh. No, everything is not okay.

“Everything’s fine.”

“Then why have you been crying?”

“No reason.”

“You get all dolled up to sit outside of rock shows crying by yourself?”

I lift my gaze to stare into his eyes, and something in them makes me believe he really cares. Or maybe that’s just what I want to see, but I suddenly need to tell someone. “My boyfriend’s in there.”

“And?"

“With another girl. I just caught him cheating.”

Adam takes a deep puff of his cigarette, nodding as he sighs it back out. “Want me to fuck him up?”

I laugh, and he smiles at me. “Would you?”

“If you want me to.”

“Why?”

He shrugs. “Because I offered.”

“Why’d you offer?”

“Who knows why I do anything I do?” He stares at me while I wait for an answer. “I just do.”

That’s a good enough explanation for me, so I look back to my knees again, letting out a shaky breath. I can’t believe I just laughed. At a time like this, Adam Everest made me laugh.

“Anyway, your boyfriend is a dumbass,” he says out of nowhere.

“How do you know?”

His gray-green eyes wash over me. “Look at you.”

I blush like hell, but I know he’s just trying to make me feel better. “You thought I was an idiot when you first saw me.”

Adam chuckles and shakes his head. “I thought you were cute as a peach.” His lips hold the cigarette in his mouth as he stands up, holding a hand down to me. My heart stops; Adam Everest is offering me his hand. In faded denim jeans, all torn up at the knees, and a fit olive-green button-down rolled up to his elbows, he makes my heart race to a nonexistent finish line. “Come on, Peach.”

I take his hand, and he lifts me to my feet, leading me away from the building. “Where are we going?”

“To get you a drink. I think you need one.”

“I’ve had a few,” I think out loud, slowing to a stop.

Adam gazes over his shoulder at me, his eyebrow cocked when he asks, “Are you saying you don’t want another?”

I take a moment to consider his question.

Just a moment, and then I keep walking." --Jamie Shaw, Mayhem

REVIEW:

I adore rocker romance books and this is no exception. The fact that Adam isn't just a rocker, but a college student adds a different dimension from a lot of others of this genre and makes it stand out from the crowd! I love the vulnerability of Rowan after being cheated on. It certainly makes her very real. Adam has a bad boy exterior but when he is with Rowan we see his heart of gold. The perfect combination for a book boyfriend!! I loved all the surrounding characters, the camaraderie between them added humour and depth. This is a really enjoyable book and I'm glad to have been introduced to this author and series. I give it 5 stars and look forward to Riot, the next in the series!
