Character Bio:
Joseph Scott is 28 years old and lives in the small village of Trecastle in North Cornwall, having moved there from London a few years prior. The reason for his move? Like Layla, whom he is soon to meet, a broken heart. A self-employed carpenter, he is tall with dark blonde hair and blue eyes. He also has a tendency towards moodiness and is more introverted than some women in the village would like him to be!

What is your ideal woman like?
Natural looking, not a lot of make-up or anything. A bit more country than city – which is the opposite of what I used to like, a few years back. Now, instead of blondes, I have a preference for brunettes although red-heads catch my eye on occasion. And a good personality, someone who likes to laugh, someone who can make me laugh, someone who gets that the simple things in life are the best. You know the kind of things I mean, long winter walks in the woods, sundown on the beach, drinking red wine in front of a roaring log fire … doing a whole lot more than that in front of a roaring log fire.

What do you like the least about yourself?
I can be quite black and white – I need to see the grey more in life!

What are the three most important things in life to you?
My friends, the place where I live and, being a carpenter, I can find a vintage ratchet brace quite sexy. I know - I need to get out more.

What music is on your playlist right now?
I like The Decemberists, First Aid Kit and John Grant – a mixture of blues, folk and rock. My mate Jim is the lead singer in a band – 96 Tears – and I’m playing their first CD a lot as well – it’s brilliant.

What is your favorite curse/dirty word?
Nothing cuts it quite like ‘fuck’.

How do you seduce and/or excite a woman?
Again, as a carpenter, I’m good with my hands. I think women instinctively tend to know that …

Where is the most interesting place you’ve ever made love?
The back of a red London bus when I was a teen. And I wouldn’t call it making love – making out – now that would be a far more accurate description!

Book Synopsis:
Dumped by her hotshot boyfriend and boss, Layla Lewis quits her job and heads to Trecastle in North Cornwall to house-sit for a friend-of-a-friend. Trecastle isn’t new to her; it's a place where she holidayed regularly with her now-estranged mother. It’s also the home of Hannah McKenzie, her childhood friend. Hannah has tempted her with a place to live and a job in the local pub. Needing time to nurse her battered heart and escape her “real life” for a year, Layla accepts.

Hannah is a talented artist as well as a barmaid. She lives in the village center with her boyfriend Jim, a singer in a local band. They are happy together, or as happy as they can be, considering. Hannah loves Jim, but there is someone she loves more and it’s pushing them to breaking point.

Meanwhile, back in Brighton, Layla’s fiery yet loyal friend Penny seeks revenge on her behalf, sending a forged email that could damage her ex’s business prospects. Penny wonders if she has gone too far but is soon preoccupied with her own problems: the sizzle has fizzled in her marriage, and she feels neglected. After getting frisky with Dylan one night, she confesses all to her husband—and he’s been like ice ever since.

Over the course of a year, there is laughter and heartache as all three endeavor to rein in their tumultuous love lives—discovering you can run all you like, but if it’s love you’re up against, true love, good things can only happen when you stand your ground.

Book Excerpt:
What happened next seemed to happen in slow motion. The rider tried to stop but couldn’t do so in time, although he did manage to avoid hitting her car. As he turned his handlebars hard to the right, his tires lost grip on the wet road and he flew off, sliding some way before coming to a halt.
Layla sat motionless in her car, paralyzed temporarily by the shock. At last she managed to galvanize herself into action and fumbled for the door handle, her shaking hands making it hard to get a grip. When the door finally opened, another dilemma hit. What if she couldn’t stand? Her legs felt like jelly, surely they wouldn’t support her. Forcing herself upward, she was relieved to discover they held firm.
Once she was sure they would continue to do so, she bolted over to where the biker lay, placed one hand on his soaking leather-clad shoulder and said, “Are you okay?”
“No, I’m not bloody okay!” he replied, a pair of bright blue eyes meeting hers as he lifted his visor. “I’m a bit bruised and battered as it goes.”
Despite his belligerent words, relief flooded through her: he wasn’t dead!
“Oh, I’m so glad,” she said, letting out a huge sigh.
“Glad?” he said, sitting up now and brushing the mud and leaves off his left arm. “Charming.”
“Oh, no, no,” she stuttered, realizing what she’d just said. “I’m not glad that I knocked you over. I’m glad you’re alive.”
“Only just, I think,” he replied, needing a helping hand to stand up.
“Can I give you a lift somewhere, take you to the nearest hospital?”
“The nearest hospital? That would be in Bodmin, I think, about fifteen miles from here. I don’t fancy driving fifteen miles with you behind the wheel.”
Feeling a little indignant now, Layla replied, “I’m actually a very good driver, thank you. You’re the first accident I’ve ever had.”
“Lucky me,” he replied sarcastically.”

Review

This book is definitely a 5 star review....This book has raw heart wrenching emotion that will rip your heart out and most readers that discourages them but I love the raw feeling the intense love and pain these characters experience. This author didn't just describe there feeling she made you feel every inch of pain each character endured.Skylar has fought for her life and put all feeling she has aside to raise her baby sister when a fatal accident leaves them orphans. Skylar is the definition of strong she has been through more than just ups and downs she was destroyed numerous times but yet she still rises above the hand life has dealt her and  still manages to show her strength and beauty in so many ways. Sebastien and Lucas are to fine specimens of men but who truly deserves Skylar and will she ever get her happy ending. I started and finished this book in one day and I was not disappointed this author delivered this book with class and she nailed it..

Author Interview

Where are you from?
Just outside of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. I'm Smalltown, Louisiana all the way.

Tell us your latest news?
I'm engrossed in writing Book 2 of Bayou Stix and it's very very steamy.

When and why did you begin writing?
I've always written in some form or another. As a teenager, I carried around a notebook and wrote poetry, but it was just for me. A diary of sorts. I went to school for Journalism, and I've written articles off and on over the years. As far as writing a novel, Alluring Turmoil is my first foray into that. I sat down a few months back and decided to get the story out of my head. But I never thought, "Oh, I'm going to be an author when I grow up. Never."When did you first consider yourself a writer?
That's a tough question. I do write, so I am a writer. I was actually just having this conversation with a childhood friend and like I told him, I'm not certain I do yet. I'm doing great. I have no complaints at all. I've completely surpassed all of my own expectations and I'm so humbled by the reception Alluring Turmoil is getting. But... right now it still feels like a dream. I'm still processing.

What inspired you to write your first book?
Another writer, Nicole Deese. I'd read her first book and reached out to her because the book just touched a chord with me. It was an inspirational romance, so nothing at all like my books, but it was so real. She and I became friendly and when her second book came out, I devoured it. Seeing her write about what was important to her inspired me to get my own ideas out of my head.

Do you have a specific writing style?
I do. My style is not really like any other I've ever seen. I write dual points of view in every chapter. I like it and I think the readers like it since you get a little of what both people are feeling about the same situation. It gives more insight into the characters I think.
I also tend to write like I speak. I've been both praised and criticized for it, though most people seem to like it.
How did you come up with the title of Alluring Turmoil?
I originally wanted to call the book Beautiful Chaos. But there is another very popular book with that title and there are SO many "Beautiful..." books out there. I wanted to stand out, so I played around with it and after about 100 variations, Alluring Turmoil just stuck.
Who is your favorite Character and Why?
My favorite character in this book is actually Erik. He's the friend everyone wants but he's also not stereotypical. I love him. Everyone seems to love him. He's so easy to love.
But my absolute favorite character in the books is only mentioned in Book 1. He'll have his own book very soon and I cannot wait for that!
Is there a message in your novel that you want readers to grasp?
Communicate! Ignoring issues doesn't make them go away. Feelings might be hurt, but always be honest with those you care about. Small things can turn into big things if they are not dealt with promptly. How much of the book is realistic?
I think most of the book is realistic. It deals with real places, the characters could be people anyone knows, and the issues are real.
Some of my life and the lives of my friends are written into the story and a lot of the characters have characteristics of myself and those I know or have known.
Are experiences based on someone you know, or events in your own life?
Some of the situations are based on real life events, but most of it is fiction.

What books have most influenced your life most?
I've read Their Eyes Were Watching God, The Great Gatsby, and To Kill a Mockingbird probably  20 times in my life. And I don't reread books, ever. I love these classics and the values and lessons they teach. If you had to choose, which writer would you consider a mentor?
Nora Roberts, hands down. She's amazing and I would totally fangirl over her! She has success that people only dream about. And she's so versatile. I love her.

What book are you reading now?
I'm actually reading 2 ARC's by friends of mine and Beautiful Strangers by Glenna Maynard. One is Wicked Wind 2 by Sharon Kay a paranormal romance that is so hot! The second is Ditching the Dream by Isabelle Peterson. I don't even know how to describe it, other than it's naughty and so hot.

Are there any new authors that have grasped your interest?
I love Indie Authors.
I've discovered some amazeballs writers recently and I'm friends with several of them, which is so cool to me. I fangirl over my friends.
LL Collins, Sharon Kay, Penelope Douglas, Laramie Briscoe, Morgan Jane Mitchell, Glenna Maynard, Alina Man... I could keep going. Lol
What are your current projects?
I'm working on Alluring Seduction, Book 2 Bayou Stix and I'm also working on a standalone novel that has nothing to do with rock stars that will probably be released between Books 3 and 4.

Do you see writing as a career?
Right now, I see it as something I like to do that people seem to like. But yes, I can see it as a career. :)If you had to do it all over again, would you change anything in your latest book?
Probably not. It was my first, so obviously as I write more I'll grow, but no. I'm proud of what I put out with Alluring Turmoil.Do you recall how your interest in writing originated?
Honestly, I just sat down and said, "Ok Jude and Lexi, let's get you out of my head."  I never intended to let anyone read it on a grand scale.

Can you share a little of your current work with us?
Book 2 is about Jessie, Bayou Stix's lead guitar and Blue, a reporter for Rock Hard Magazine. You see an introduction to them in Alluring Turmoil, but man these two are electric.
This is a very rough draft, but here's  a sneak peek of Alluring Seduction.

Bradi watches me before breaking the silence. “So, what the hell happened? Where’s Blue?”

I gesture towards the hallway. “Out there somewhere I’m sure.”

Lexi sits up on Jude’s lap, all of the guys just stare at me, and Bradi shoots me a glare, “What do you mean ‘out there somewhere’? You left her out there? Did you even find her? Shit… I have her room key and her purse. I’m going find her. Dammit, Jessie!”

Lexi says, “Dammit, Jessie!” She shoots me the evil eye. “I’m going with you, Bradi!”

Is there anything you find particularly challenging in your writing?
Oh my yes. Capturing the emotion is very difficult but the sex scenes are extremely hard to write.Who is your favorite author and what is it that really strikes you about their work?
Nora Roberts is my far my favorite author of all time. I love that she's so versatile in her writing. She can write about anything and make it completely real and relateable.Do you have to travel much concerning your book(s)?
My books are based out of Louisiana, where I'm from, so I do travel, but it's mostly throughout the state. I like that I can incorporate bits and pieces of my state and our culture in the books. If I can introduce the beauty of Louisiana and make someone want to visit, that makes me so happy.Who designed the covers?
Kari at Cover to Cover Designs did my cover and my swag and she's amazing! It's like she went into my head and pulled out my visual and made it a reality.

What was the hardest part of writing your book?
The sex scenes! And knowing that I was opening myself up for criticism. It's scary to put yourself out there and wait to see how your work will be received.Did you learn anything from writing your book and what was it?
LOL, yes. I learned that writing is hard! I don't think I ever understood everything that goes into getting a book out there. Writing is just the first step and it's an emotional roller coaster

Do you have any advice for other writers?
Just write. Even if you don't think anyone will ever see it, write. Always support other writers. And thank the people who buy your books. Without them, you'd be nothing.

Do you have anything specific that you want to say to your readers?
Just thank you for taking this journey with me. It means more than you'll ever know and I so appreciate each and every one of you who are falling as in love with my characters as I am.
Thank you for being Rock Stars!

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
I’m from a small town in Southern California. I currently live in Washington with my wonderful husband, two amazing kids and a senior citizen kitty. I started writing one day with no goal in mind. I just had an idea that would not get out of my head so I opened a notebook and wrote it down; that idea turned into another, turned into another and next thing I knew I had a book. When I am not writing you can find me reading. I LOVE to read, show me an author who doesn’t. You might catch me sneaking off for a run listening to whatever music happens to be playing or curled up on the couch watching Bones, when I am not trying to keep track of my husband or my kids. Some might say I live a crazy life, but I wouldn’t change a thing about it.

EXCERPT
I sit there in silence, giving them time to absorb everything I’ve said.
Trying to distract myself again from the tension beginning to build up inside, I begin to look around the room. I notice on one of the walls is a wall hanger, with a whole bunch of medals hanging from them. I walk over to them and start looking at them. As I'm doing this I get another memory.
This one is of Matt and me. A crowd of people surrounds us, as a medal is being placed around my neck. I feel ecstatic as I hug him. I’m looking behind him at the big banner that says "Portland Marathon" in big green letters. It’s a finish line, and by the year on the banner it was just last year.
Excited, I turn to face Matt, this must be where we met. Even though I don’t remember reading anything on Google that said I was a runner. "We ran the Portland Marathon together last year, that's where we must have met."
He gets up and comes over, standing next me and begins concentrating on the medals with me.
"No, we didn't," he clips out, keeping his eyes on the medals.
"Yes, we did, you’re in my memory and we’re crossing the finish line together.” At least I’m pretty sure we did. “They gave us our medals together and we are hugging."
Matt looks back at me with a fierce glare. His chest is beginning to rise and fall, and he’s shaking his head. His eyes turn glassy like he wants to cry, but he's fighting to hold it back. “I didn't run it with you,” he insists, staring at me in disbelief, and irritation laces his voice. “I ran it with my sister. It was the last race we ran together."
Oh shit! Then why am I having this vision? It has to mean something, I was pretty sure it was my memory. It felt so real.
"Are you sure? I’m pretty sure I’m right. I clearly see the memory. It was only last year, and I'm pretty sure I was there with you. "Can I be wrong? No, I wasn’t asleep when I got this one, so I know it has to be an actual memory. "What about my dream of running with you in the park, that has to be real, right? There's a trail in the background."
This makes Matt angry and he walks away. "Now you’re fucking with me. Who's been feeding you her info?"
"What are you talking about, nobody is feeding me info. I told you these are the things that I remember. The only things I remember. Besides you, and who is this she you keep referring to?"
Matt shakes his head and runs his hands through his hair. The other guy starts drinking from his beer again. He looks like he wants to put his two cents into the conversation, but he decides to stay quiet. He's trying to absorb everything, and so am I.
"Look, there is no way you would have those memories unless somebody told you about them.”
He goes quiet but then his eyes light up, like he’s just realized something. I’m soon disappointed when he says, “I get it. She must have done some designer shit for you. That’s when she must have mentioned that she ran the marathon. She talked about running to anybody who would listen."
I shake my head in disagreement, wanting him to believe me.
Matt starts pacing the small space in the living room in front of the patio door. What is he talking about, and who would design something for me? I start biting my thumbnail and pacing the room next to him, but in the opposite direction, causing us to pass by each other. That's when the other guy stands up from the couch.
"Dude, you guys need to stop that walking shit, you’re making me trip."
I’m irritated again as I look over at him and snap, "Oh, shut it Trey, I'm trying to figure this out!"
He drops his beer and it lands on the floor with a loud thump. Matt’s body spins around fast, facing me, and he covers his mouth with a fist.

"Holy shit, she even sounded like her when she said that!"

EXCERPT
I thought for a moment.  Actually she is right.  My dad is who I need to talk to right now.
I call and he answers on the second ring, “Hello Princess.”
I immediately cry, “Oh daddy, everything is a mess.”
I take a few seconds to compose myself.  I give my dad the run down on everything with Brayden.  He remains silent.
“Daddy, are you still there?”  I finally say.
“Yes, Princess, always,” he begins, "I don’t know what to say to you that will make any of this any easier.”
He sighs, “My precious daughter, your head is going to tell you that it is over, and he is no good for you.  Your head is going to tell you to walk away.  My princess, your heart on the other hand is going to hold on to hope.  Your heart will ask you to love unconditionally and help him to change.”
“So,” I ask, “which one do I listen to, my head or my heart, Daddy?”
“That is not for me to answer.  Time will show you which way to go, Princess.  As your dad, I want to hurt Brayden for hurting you.  As a man, who has made more than enough of his own mistakes, I want to see the two of you overcome this.”  He pauses, but continues, “Princess, just take some time and take things slow, one day at a time, and if that is too hard, take it one hour at a time.  We will be out to visit in two weeks to take your mind off of things, okay?”
I find comfort in this, “I can’t wait to see you Daddy, I love you.”  And with that we both hang up.

Excerpt #3:
When I woke up all I could smell was bacon and it smelled delicious. I was still naked so I jumped in the shower. I was finishing up when I heard Paisley walk in.
“Sweetheart breakfast is done.” I opened the shower door and shot him a smile as I got out. “Put on something nice beautiful, I have a day planned for us.” As he walked out I felt a huge smile go across my face, what could he have planned? I walked to my closet browsing through all my new things. I looked up on the shelf at the cute little cowboy hat I had got a few days ago when Harper and I went out. I grabbed my white knee length dress and brown belt with the big sliver buckle that said country girl. I thought about how I had gone from a total city girl to all out country, I loved it here. I put them on along with my cowboy hat, and boots. When I walked in the kitchen I'd swear I needed to pick his jaw up off the floor.
“Am I to assume this will work?” I asked with a smile.
“Damn babe you look gorgeous,” he said as he wrapped his arms around me. “I love you beautiful,” he said kissing my lips.
“I love you too sexy man,” I said with a wink. He had made a huge breakfast, bacon, eggs, pancakes and hash browns. I grabbed a tiny bit of everything so I didn't hurt his feelings and sat down to eat. We heard Harpers’ four-wheeler pull up. I greeted her at the door with a huge hug.
“Happy birthday hun!”
“Thank you sweets!” I noticed a heart shaped pendent hanging from her neck with beautiful green stones.
“Well what is that?” She smiled as she put her fingers up to touch it.
“It's my gift from Ryder. Isn’t it beautiful? The stones are my birthstone I love it!” She said with a huge smile.
“Nice job Ryder,” I gave him a grin as he walked out the door.
“Well sweets we have to head out we’re running a bit behind already. He's loading up the car now so we can get going. I walked over and gave Harper a huge hug.
“Have a blast hun and bring me back something pretty.” She gave me a smile.
“Of course.” She gave Paisley a hug right before he shook Ryder's hand and they laughed about something. As they drove off Paisley ran up behind me scooped me up and headed to the house.
“A whole week just me and you, it's going to start now. Well after I clean up breakfast,” he laughed.
“Well I will go up and do my makeup, you enjoy loading that dish washer. I winked and took off upstairs.
The first thing Paisley took me to do was Graceland. I couldn't believe it, it was amazing! Then we went to do some shopping. He picked out some super sexy lingerie for me which I’m sure was his plan all along, but sometimes I think he secretly enjoys shopping as much as I do. We went to eat at Morton's Steakhouse. It was delicious, had to be the best meal I've had in forever. As we drove towards our next destination he put his hand in mine, looked over and gave me a huge smile.
“Have you ever seen a country concert?” I nearly jumped out of my seat.
“NO! Why are we going to one? Who is it?” He laughed leaned over and gave me a quick kiss on the cheek.
“Luke Bryan”
“No freaking way!” I shouted nearly leaving the seat again.
“Yes way. Only one rule though.” I raised my eyebrow and tilted my head a bit. “You gotta shake it for me country girl.” We both laughed.
“Of course I will”
When we got home we took a shower together, and made love twice. I lay in bed with my head on his chest. “Paisley I could never thank you enough. You are so good to me sometimes, I question if I deserve it.” He raised my chin with his fingers.
“Babe you deserve the world. I love you.” I let out a huge smile
“I love you too baby,” and kissed him with all the passion I had in my body.
