Review:

“Sail Away with Me” by Kate Deveaux is a whirlwind of romance and finding love for newly divorced and single mom Jody Carter. Jody gets a chance for some fun and stress relief on a 5 day cruise with her girlfriends when one of them wins a free cruise. And of course, to add to the fun and fantasy of Jody’s vacation, she meets tall, dark and handsome… “Taggart Keith who is also on board promoting his newest “self-help” book.

I have to say, I really enjoyed this book… more so than I would have expected, given that my fave choice of book genre is typically more towards the romantic paranormal reads. I could totally related to Jody, she is so down-to-earth, an incredible mother and amazing friend. I could really appreciate the way that Jody was able to let herself go and grab happiness and joy for herself with her budding relationship with Taggart; but still was mature and responsible enough to consider what a new relationship would mean to her young son and set boundaries with Taggart in regards to that.

I also enjoyed that yes, there were some minor conflicts and obstacles Jody and Taggart had to overcome, but nothing so absurdly over-the-top as I read in other romance novels that frankly, could be compared to the “eye-rolling” ridiculous drama of a tv soap opera. Kate Deveaux does an outstanding job with the development of all the characters in “Sail Away” and now all I’m needed is planning a dream cruise for myself!
